Mountain Leader Summer Assessment

The ML award is for those who wish to lead a group of hill walkers anywhere in the UK under summer conditions.

You will learn such skills as group management, navigation, emergency procedures and equipment, access and conservation and security on steep ground.

This course is provided through our Partner Company Mountain Activities Ltd. Mountain Activities is a Mountain Leader Training England (MLTE) approved provider of the SPA, Mountain Leader, Walking Group Leader and Climbing Wall awards. Intrepid Pursuits and Mountain Activities have a long-standing partnership, running training and assessment courses throughout the UK together.

If you book your ML Assessment course through Intrepid Pursuits you will be signing up for a course provided by Mountain Activities. The course may well be directed by Steve Anderson, founder of Intrepid Pursuits, and MLTE approved course director.

The prerequisites for attending an  ML assessment course are:

  • You must have attended an approved Mountain Leader training course or received  a training course exemption from the MLTE.
  • You must have experienced an absolute minimum of forty quality mountain days. This experience should be gained in at least three different regions of the
    UK and Ireland and should include at least eight nights camping, at least four nights of which should be wild camping.
  • You must hold a valid first aid certificate appropriate for the award, as defined by the sylabus.
  • You must have a completed personal profile.

If you book onto a course with us and have not fullfilled all of the requirements, you will not be eligible for the course and may not be able to participate in the course.  Under these circumstances no refund of course fees is available. It is the candidates responsibilty to ensure they have have fullfilled all requirements before attending an assessment.

 

Notes:
Self catered accommodation is provided as part of the course fee. Candidates are responsible for arranging their own transport and food.
