The Team

Our staff are all highly experienced practitioners of outdoor pursuits, coming from different backgrounds, and have overcome numerous challenging situations to get to where they are now. All of our courses draw from their experience to enable you to truly enjoy an Intrepid Pursuit. Meet the team below:

Name: Steve Anderson

Intrepid Role: Partner

Preparing for: International Mountain Leader, Mountain Instructor Certificate, Cave Leader Assessment

Ambitions: British Mountain Guide, Cave Instructor Certificate

Experience: Steve has worked in the outdoor industry since leaving school ?? years ago. He has managed various outdoor centres for severall diferent providers. His main passion has always been the mountains, however Steve is also a bit of a jack of all trades and has vast experience in numerous outdoor activities. It is Steves vision to enable everyone to have the opportunity to experience something really adventurous, to do this Steve hand picked the Intrepid team from the hundreds of instructors he has worked with over the years. Steve has been running Intrepid Pursuits nearly 2 years, for the first year while still holding down a full time job managing an outdoor activity centre, in the last year Steve moved on from the activity centre and has focussed fully on the development and growth of Intrepid Pursuits.

Happiest when: Hanging off the side of a mountain with a client experiencing the thrill for the first time!

Tony Liddy

Name: Tony Liddy (a.k.a Monty)

Intrepid role: Partner

Qualifications: Single Pitch Award, Kayak Level 3 Coach + 5 star,

Preparing for: Mountain Leader Assessment, Cave Leader Assessment

Ambitions: Mountain Instructor Award, Kayak Level 5 Coach.

Experience: Tony has extensive experience of climbing and paddling throughout the UK. You would normally only expect to find his level of experience in someone much older. His natural coaching ability, drive and ambition complements the Intrepid Pursuits philosophy perfectly.

Happiest when:  summersaulting in his kayak!

Kev Garvey

Name: Kev Garvey

Intrepid role: Instructor

Preparing for: Kayak level 3 Assessment, Mountain Leader Training

Ambitions:

Experience: Kev has worked in the outdoor industry for various organisations for nearly 10 years, he has experience across a broad spectrum of activities and with a variety of social groups. Kev also has a background of youth work envolvement for Europes largest College and has connections to youth work angencies in America. Kevs’ approach to coaching and client development has been instrumental in the development of the products we offer.

Happiest when: having survived another adventure!

Name: Dan Liddy

Intrepid Role: Instructor

Qualifications: Single Pitch Award, Cave Leader, Kayak Level 2 Coach

Preparing for: Mountain Leader Assessment, Kayak Level 3 Coach Assessment

Ambitions: Mountain Instructor Award, Kayak Level 4 Coach

Experience: Dan grew up in the outdoors and first met Steve as a modern apprentice at an outdoor centre in Yorkshire. Dans natural ability was evident from the outset. Dan became the senior instructor of the centre at an early age and rose to the challenge. Dan has paddled throughout the UK and climbed in the Alps aswell as the UK. Nowadays he spends a lot of time underground caving.

Happiest when: Outside!

Name: Adam Smith (a.k.a smudge)

Intrepid role: Instructor

Qualifications: UKCC level 1Coach, Level 2 Power Boat, White Water Technician

Preparing for: ML Assessment, UKCC Level 2, SPA, Cave Leader

Ambitions:

Experience: Adam joined the armed forces from an early age and has travelled the world and experienced situations most of us couldn’t even begin to imagine. Adam left the army and came to work for steve at an outdoor centre in Yorkshire. Adam is now working through his outdoor qualifications so his experience and ability can reach its true potential.

Happiest when: He manages to stay in his boat for the entire river! (so not very often)
