Safety

Intrepid Pursuits takes pride in the fact that everything we do is based on your safety, whether it is an instructor assessment course or an introduction to hill walking, nothing will be done before a thorough risk assessment of the activity has been carried out.

An effective risk assessment involves more than just writing stuff down, putting it away and never looking at it again. A true risk assessment will start with a formal written document but will then evolve, change and adapt, depending on circumstances.

At intrepid pursuits we adopt an extremely pro active and dynamic approach to risk assessment and are continually assessing risk throughout your course and long after you have left us. Take part in one of our courses and you will see this in action and hopefully develop some of the skills to do it yourselves.

Alongside our approach to risk assessment all of our staff have undergone extensive training and assessment programmes to enable them to deliver your course. Intrepid Pursuits staff are also active members of leading professional bodies relating to the delivery of adventurous activities. This enables us to remain in touch with current best practice and developments within our industry. Therefore you can be rest assured that your safety is in good hands.

The courses we offer inherently involve risks and hazards. As explained we take every precaution to minimise these risks and hazards, but obviously are unable to completely guarantee your safety, and you must take this into consideration before signing up for a course. To help you make your decision, when you book onto an Intrepid Pursuit’s course you will be given access to all safety information relevant to your course, including risk assessments, staff qualifications and operating procedures. You will be asked to confirm your acceptance of the risks associated with the activity based on the information we provide and information widely available through the media.
